William Eggleston

I was so happy we were in NYC to catch the William Eggleston exhibition at the Whitney Museum "Democratic Camera, Photographs and Video, 1961-2008".

I have been pretty camera happy since getting my new digital camera over the summer, and this exhibition really inspired me to keep on taking photos obsessively of everyday life... to really capture a moment in time.

"Democratic Camera, Photographs and Video, 1961-2008" is on view at The Whitney until Jan. 25, 2009.

Cold Weather

Have I been talking enough about how I miss the cold weather? I was just checking my email this morning and as usual there was my daily email from "Who What Wear Daily"- like a stab in the heart! To think a week ago this was me... bundled up in the cold sporting all of my old vintage winter finds. Meanwhile, It is supposed to go down to 84 degrees today in LA.

Check out Who What Wear here.

Back in Los Angeles- and it's 85 degrees!

Waking up in Westfield, MA, the town where I grew up.
Jan.11, 2009. 30+ degrees with Freshly fallen snow.

Waking up in Los Angeles, CA, where I live now.
Jan.12, 2009. 80 + degrees and sunny.

Every Little Counts is back in LA, after almost an entire month traveling the east coast for the holidays: NY, NJ, CT, MA, NH, and VT. It has been an nostalgic and emotional whirlwind- seeing friends and family, visiting our favorite places, and relishing in winter weather. We left Sunday evening out of JFK after a snowstorm hit CT and MA the night before. I was very distraught to see that we were leaving cold and snow behind for 80 degree weather in LA.
I know a lot of people enjoy the sun and warmth of southern CA, but I would do anything to go back to the cold, yet cozy winter of the northeast.
Many more more pictures and posts from the trip to come...once I finish unpacking and filling orders for Every Little Counts.

Photographer, Uta Barth

“My primary project has always been in finding ways to make the viewer aware of their own activity of looking at something.”

Since I have been back on the east coast, I have found myself obsessively taking photos trying to capture the quiet dreamy gloom of winter. A lot of this is done while staring out of the car window...traveling, dreaming, reflecting.

I woke up this morning to another rainy day in New Haven, CT and it got me thinking about Uta Barth- one of my favorite photographers. I found a great article from db artmag, ""Spanning Time: A Conversation with Uta Barth".

"Barth allows the viewer to idle. It is in this idling that intimacy unfolds along with a way of looking that lets you span time."

Quote of the Day: Jesse Kamm

Today I was inspired by this portion of Refinery 29's interview with LA-based designer, Jesse Kamm.

Where do you get the inspiration for your designs?
"My eyes are always open. I try too keep my mind attuned to the available stimuli at all times. The earth, strangers on the street, cars, Books, history museums, family photos, etc. I spend as little time as possible watching televsion, texting, talking on the phone, and getting lost in the internet. All of these activities cloud my ability to focus on the real world around me."

I got very carried away designing our latest collection, "Love Songs". It was very hard to narrow it down to the 5 songs we ended up with. "Love Hangover" was always a must, being one of my favorite songs ever by the great style icon, Diana Ross.

Valentine's Day is coming, and with that comes the 1 year anniversary of Every Little Counts.
To celebrate we've created a new limited edition collection, "Love Songs", inspired by some of our favorite love related songs.
This is one of my favorite styles - I've always loved this Led Zeppelin song - many a car ride there's been, singing up high with Robert Plant. We made this to help us remember our love for hard rock. Hope you like it.
More to come...

Happy New Year!

It snowed again in Connecticut.
We had a pretty low-key New Year's Eve, taking a walk in the snow, taking pictures of trees, and cuddling up by the fire.
