Watching: Valley Girl

She's cool. He's hot. She's from the Valley. He's not.
I was feeling a little nostalgic so I spent Saturday night watching Valley Girl- so classic. 1983. Deborah Foreman and Nicolas Cage.
"That chick Julie, she's truly dazzling"
I love this blouse, worn with high waisted jeans... and her hair! Perfection.
Anyone else think she looks like Rachel Zoe?
This makes me sad that I was not a teenager in the 80's.
"He's the most awesome dude ever"
Every 80's slumber party requires girls dancing around in their underwear. Am I the only one who has never done this? By the way, I really want that zebra print tank/ undie set.
Prada anyone?
This actually reminds me of my prom dress. I wore vintage. I can't believe I unknowingly referenced Valley Girl.

In case you were wondering, Deborah Foreman is now a yoga and pilates instructor.

intermission

ok, i have to take a "time-out" from fashion week for just a moment here because THIS titanium quartz ring is insane and amazing and i love it. i'm not even sure i should be telling you about it because it's one of a kind and i want it, but here i am anyway.

"titanium quartz is famous for giving increased life energy, humor, relaxation, and enjoyment of life"
i think i could use just about all of that. perfect.

vena cava: spring 2011

everyone loves vena cava, don't they?
elegant, smart, effortless, and the styling- perfection.
dramatic eyes, coral lips, and turban inspired headbands.
i'm all about the headscarf/ turban/ headband- they all add glamour to a simple summer outfit.
i must admit i have a little "girl crush" on lisa mayock. (someone come up with a better word for that please! it's become drastically overused).

michael kors: spring 2011

love the big, slouchy socks with sandals

i feel like i'm on vacation just looking at this. love the long, flowy skirt. simple but beautiful.
when i see this, i think of kim basinger in the 80's. i like it.
love the easy, slouchy, 80s sportswear feel with a little glitz. effortless.

rebecca taylor: spring 2011

i don't usually do the posts on the NYFW thing. i didn't even look at the fall collections at all back in february. for one thing- it's so time consuming to pour over each collection. it never seems to end. and then i get a migraine from looking at all these slideshows. but, i'm really putting in the effort this go around. i need inspiration. i've been going through this period of reevaluation and i think i need to just remind myself of why i got into this field, and that i really do love it, despite how burnt out i feel right now. so, i'm compiling a list of my favorites. this blog, after all, is like a big never ending scrapbook of influence and inspiration.

rebecca taylor has always been one of my favorites. i love the sheerness of this collection- so ethereal, feminine and subtly sexy in that late 70's/ early 80's way that i love.
but... don't the models look a little busted? i love the hair (looks like mine!), but the makeup....bad.

we're moving... again!

so, we've decided to leave the factories, tractor trailer trucks, desolation, and general ugliness of east williamsburg/ bushwick for the quieter, prettier surroundings of park slope. this means giving up our huge loft for a slightly smaller place with a slightly smaller studio, but being amongst the presence of trees and coffee shops and restaurants is worth it.

to get to the point- we're having a big sale in hopes that there will be less to move on the big day.

Ocean Lemonade

I was so sad to have missed the Spring/ Summer 2011 presentation, "Ocean Lemonade" by Family Affairs, a line I only just discovered last year but am deeply in love with. If I could live in a wardrobe consisting of only Family Affairs, I would. I can't wait to see more from the spring collection.

Fore more photos, visit the Family Affairs blogwhich happens to be one of my favorites.

"He's a doll. He's a dreamboat. He's a delinquent."

i love that who what wear daily did a post on cry-baby- one of my favorite john waters films (along with hairspray, that is).
