Nog and Blog

So, my brother likes to make fun of me for blogging. He's 3 years younger than me and loves to tease me (I think he still holds a grudge from the days I used dress him up like a doll). Since we are both home for the holidays, this teasing happens more frequently. We have many Christmas traditions, one of which is to make each other homemade Christmas cards. He usually takes this opportunity to make fun of me in some way. This is from this year's card:

Nog and Blog
Merry Christmas and welcome to my inaugural blog entry. Let's cut the Yule log (lol) and get down to business:

Top 10 Things a Brother Doesn't Want to Read or See on His Sister's Blog
1. No matter the context, the word "porn"
2. No matter the context, the word "foreplay"
3. A picture of his Father in thigh-high, jean cut off shorts
4. A picture of himself in any compromising attire/ situations
5. No matter the context, the phrase "softcore erotic"
6. The use of "naked" in reference to any story about Grandma
7. Any reference to Justine Bateman; I prefer to live my life as if she never existed (I'm not sure what sort of problem he has with Justine Bateman)
8. Any ambiguous reference to BJ (an infamous old boyfriend of sorts)
9. Any personal references to anything remotely intimate
10. Any reminder in how useless you were in regards to yard work

Live Forever: Elizabeth Peyton

While we were in NYC last weekend, we were able to catch the Elizabeth Peyton exhibition at the New Museum. I love her dreamy and romantic paintings, despite the sometimes overdose of indie rock celebrity. The exhibition continues through Jan. 11th.

The first storm of the season.

Looking forward to a winter like this...

So, I have finally made it east, far away from the sunny skies and warm weather of California. Now... I await snow- lots and lots of snow!
These lovely winter wonderland photographs were taken in Bergen, Norway by Astrid.
You can see more on her blog, Hei Astrid.

Lovers in Estonia

One of my many projects over the holiday is to go through and organize our photos. This photo above was taken in Estonia last year.

Good Reads

Addicted to (Pretty) Porn: One Woman's Story
by E.A. Hanks, via The Huffington Post.

"PrettyPorn consists of the seemingly endless chain of blogs where dreamy young things post photos and notes (and poems!) about the things they think are beautiful. It's an ongoing love affair with an aesthetic based on fragility, beauty, and romance. Everything is lovely, everyone is consumptive, and I am fucking eating it up. "

Some of our favorite blogs were mentioned in the article, including Le Love, Bread & Honey, and we are even blushing to say, Every Little Counts!
Read the rest of the article here. I was loving every second of it.

30 Things Women Love but Men Don't Understand.
Check out this post on Fashion Indie

I hate making generalizations about the differences between men and women, but I sort of enjoy this list, and I do love some things maybe some men don't get such as:
Trapeze dresses, frozen yogurt, gossip magazines, looking at pictures of adorable baby animals (see Cute Overload), Chuck Bass (I did cry during the last episode of Gossip Girl), men that appear dirty and grimy (yes Justin Bobby), collecting magazines, tucking jeans into boots, and foreplay.
But, some guys do get it.
