Body Heat

"It's a hot summer. Ned Racine is waiting for something special to happen. And when it does... He won't be ready for the consequences."

A summer movie essential: "Body Heat", starring Kathleen Turner as the iconic temptress, "Matty Walker" and William Hurt as the seedy lawyer who becomes her prey.
(Matty Walker is one of my favorite violent, sensual, sensitive girls

March 21, 1932

March 21, 1932
excerpt from a letter by Henry Miller to Anais Nin:
Anais, I don't know how to tell you what I feel. I live in a perpetual expectancy. You come and time slips away in a dream. It is only when you go that I realize completely your presence. And then it is too late. You numb me.

Watching: Summertime

Directed by David Lean and starring Katharine Hepburn and Rossano Brazzi, "Summertime" is stunning, romantic, and heartbreaking...

"All my life I've stayed at parties too long because I didn't know when to go. Now, with you, I've grown up. I think I do know when to."
-Jane Hudson (Katherine Hepburn's character)

Takin' it to the Streets

I used to get scolded in high school for wearing lingerie to school. I would layer full length slips, add a belt and wear it a dress. My father wasn't too keen on this idea, but I did it anyway. That's teenage rebellion for you. Paired with the right undergarments- tights, leggings, camisoles...what's the problem?

Each of the pieces above are from my personal collection. It's time for us to part ways, but now they can each be found at dreams never end.

Summer in Massachusetts

A few photos from last month's trip back home to Massachusetts...there's nothing like summer in the country.

Endless Summer Days

I Taste a Liquor Never Brewed

I taste a liquor never brewed,
From tankards scooped in pearl;
Not all the vats upon the Rhine
Yield such an alcohol!

Inebriate of air am I,
And debauchee of dew,
Reeling, through endless summer days,
From inns of molten blue.

When landlords turn the drunken bee
Out of the foxglove's door,
When butterflies renounce their drams,
I shall but drink the more!

Till seraphs swing their snowy hats,
And saints to windows run,
To see the little tippler
Leaning against the sun!

-Emily Dickinson

So Tonight That I Might See

Tonight the sunset seemed magical...which got me thinking back to me as a young teenager, emotional, romantic, and dreaming...listening to Mazzy Star's, "So Tonight That I Might See" . Remember 120 Minutes on MTV? I can recall many summer nights staying up to watch. Here's Mazzy Star performing "Fade into You". I almost feel 15 again.

Loving: Vain & Vapid

I have been loving Vain & Vapid since I first laid eyes on the collection sometime last year. Now that the new summer collection has arrived, I literally want everything. I want to escape right into the summer lookbook... wandering through the woods, skimming stones, and bike riding on long country roads. This really has me missing summers in Massachusetts.

Friends, family, anyone who may be birthday is coming up and I think I would look really good in the TVOD jumpsuit.

Be sure to also check out the Vain & Vapid of my daily reads.

Watching: Play Misty for Me

I screamed. I laughed. At times I almost fell asleep, but all in all... worth it for the sheer campiness. It was Clint Eastwood's directorial debut afterall and filmed in the beautiful California coastal town of Carmel, where Eastwood would actually become mayor in 1986 (it's true!).
