It's so hard to say goodbye...

LAST CHANCE for "In the Mood for Love"...
Available for one more week!
I have had a hard time letting go of this collection, but the time has come. Every Little Counts was launched just over a year ago with this very collection, and so it holds a very special place in my heart (I have a hard time letting go). So, I've decided to prolong the whole process for one more week- until March 7th.
Have no fear... new spring/ summer styles coming soon!

Loving Lou...

Oh, how I love Lou Doillon. She has that tough understated sex appeal that seems to come so easily to the French.
See Lou in the new spring/summer campaign for Vanessa Bruno (who I also love) here.

Etsy Love: Mise-en-scene

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these dreamy, nature inspired works by Berlin-based, Mise-en-scene.

Watching: Last Tango in Paris

So "Last Tango in Paris" has been on my long list of movies to see for quite some time now, described as one of the most controversial films of its era. Now that I have seen it, I'm not quite sure how I feel about it. It was not an easy film to watch; emotional, disturbing, shocking, tragic. I didn't even realize how much I was affected by watching it until the next morning when I woke up realizing I had an awful night sleeping.
On a highly superficial note, isn't Maria Schneider adorable?

I wish I could tap dance

Thanks to Life in Lomo for reminding me how much I love "Buffalo 66": Vincent Gallo, Christina Ricci, offbeat romance. I own it on VHS and I think now is the time to break out that VCR...
Check out Life in Lomo for a Christina Ricci's tap dance sequence at the bowling alley.

Love: Melissa Manfull

Adam and I made the trek over to La Cienega Blvd. for openings on Satuday night. La Cienega is a street in LA that has in the last year or so become a sort of gathering spot for art galleries. On nights when a number of spaces are having openings at the same time, it is generally a zoo, great for people watching, a few laughs, catching up with friends, and some (free) drinks.
One of my favorite exhibitions of the evening was Melissa Manfull's "Tesseracts" at Taylor De Cordoba. These gorgeous ink on paper drawings were inspired by science fiction, gothic architecture, and mineralogy. This exhibition is up until March 28th.

Watching: Loves of a Blonde

"Loves of a Blonde" directed by Milos Foreman, 1967

Adam and I watched this the other night. I loved it, but Adam really really loved it. It just felt authentic and true; a little bit funny, a little bit sad. The best description I found was by Miriam Bale in her article for "The Reeler", describing the film as "a sad pop song of a film, like a Communist-era Sofia Coppola portrait of dreamy girls gazing out the windows of their lives' misfortune (except in this case the misfortune is very real)."

Watching: Violette

"Violette" by Claude Chabrol, 1978
Isabelle Huppert plays the deliciously wicked Violette in this film based on a sensational murder case in France in the 30's.
I am still wondering what really happened...

Photos while driving...

Photos taken while driving home from the studio. And, yes..I was the one driving. (I swear I was careful!)

Another Rainy Day in LA

Above: Patrick Wilson and Selma Blair in "Purple Violets"...a second chance for first love.

It's raining again today. I don't know whether it is because I finally got a chance to clean the apt. last night or because it's raining, but I feel oddly calm. Life has been pretty chaotic lately, and I'm trying to take a few moments each day to relax. Yesterday I watched "Purple Violets" by Ed Burns: love, New York City, Patrick Wilson. It was exactly what I was in the mood to watch. But, now I am off to the studio wishing I could stay here and enjoy the rain cuddled up on the couch watching movies.

Many, Many Thanks!

I just want to say thank you to all of those who came out to support us & Walk MS last Saturday at the "Love Bazaar". I enjoyed meeting all of our lovely, lovely vendors...despite how delirious I may have seemed. It was a lot of work, but worth every minute!
Due to deliriousness, I managed to not get as many photos as I would have liked. (I am hoping Kelsi at Stylesmith got some better ones!)
In the meantime...

Getting Through the Night...

It's nearly 2am and I still have mountains of work ahead of me...piles and piles of Every Little Counts t-shirts that need labels and ironing. The only thing that is keeping me going right now is listening to my Skid Row mix on Pandora. I just can't help it- it just makes me feel so nostalgic.

Some of my favorites include:

Alice Copper: Poison (video below)

Motley Crue: Without You

Skid Row: Wasted Time

Guns n' Rose: Don't Cry

A Long Day in the Studio

One of my favorite, yet also least favorite things about screenprinting is the enormous mess we make. We ran out of newsprint to make test prints, so we had to re-use whatever we had laying around (which, luckily was a lot of old test prints). I love the layered, overwrought, love overdose that became the result. Perhaps look out for some prints in the future???
