Watching: Valley Girl

She's cool. He's hot. She's from the Valley. He's not.
I was feeling a little nostalgic so I spent Saturday night watching Valley Girl- so classic. 1983. Deborah Foreman and Nicolas Cage.
"That chick Julie, she's truly dazzling"
I love this blouse, worn with high waisted jeans... and her hair! Perfection.
Anyone else think she looks like Rachel Zoe?
This makes me sad that I was not a teenager in the 80's.
"He's the most awesome dude ever"
Every 80's slumber party requires girls dancing around in their underwear. Am I the only one who has never done this? By the way, I really want that zebra print tank/ undie set.
Prada anyone?
This actually reminds me of my prom dress. I wore vintage. I can't believe I unknowingly referenced Valley Girl.

In case you were wondering, Deborah Foreman is now a yoga and pilates instructor.

Toto!

Did you know "Rosanna" was named after Rosanna Arquette? She briefly dated Toto member, Steve Porcaro...hence, the song. I'm still trying to figure out why she would have dated one of these guys. I've had my fair share of perhaps shameful crushes back in the day, but I just can't get into these guys. Although I do love this song...and who could forget "Africa"- another favorite.

Loving: Story of My LIfe

I have always been hesitant about the 80's revival- hipsters in bike shorts and stone wash denim? I can do without. Perhaps it's because I actually grew up in the 80's, wearing pastel leggings, oversized shirts...and yes- stonewash. However, I do love the glitz and glam a la "Dallas" and Cosmopolitan magazine. This Who What Wear Daily story is an homage to the stylish glamazons that inspired the literary brat pack of the 80's...this I can get into.

I Won't Forget You...

While I was flying back on Virgin America from Boston earlier in the week, I happened to stumble upon the VH1 Rock Doc, "Do it for the Band: The Women of the Sunset Strip". I wasn't able to catch the whole thing, but I saw enough to make me extremely nostalgic for the 80's...when I was a young girl, daydreaming- thinking it was so cool to be "older"...going on dates, wearing tight clothes, having big hair, going to concerts. I was too young for all of this, but I did spend a fair share of my time watching MTV (remember when they played music videos?)... seriously crushing on Sebastian Bach, Slash, and Bret Michaels. I still swoon a little bit when I see Skid Row's "Monkey Business" video, or "November Rain" by Guns n' Roses. Although we can almost never get a good look at Slash's face, playing guitar while shirtless in those tight pants was enough for me. Bret Michaels on the other hand, I would have preferred for him to be preserved in my memory circa 1986.

Some of my favorite videos:
"Monkey Business"- Skid Row
"November Rain"- Guns n' Roses
"I Won't Forget You"- Poison
and now I am getting carried away and I just love these songs...
"Is This Love"- Whitesnake
"Don't Know What You Got (Til It's Gone)"- Cinderella
"Without You"- Motley Crue
"Dead or Alive"- Bon Jovi
"Kiss Me Deadly"- Lita Ford
if I don't stop now I will be up all night...
